Photo Update – End May

The potatoes are going mad, the sweetcorn is popping through, the leeks haven’t put in appearance and something is eating the peas…

Garlic

My garlic was planted in October so will be almost ready for harvesting. Wait until the leaves are yellow, pull out and dry in the sun.

I love sweetcorn, I hope this does well. The shoots have only just popped through

The sugar snaps were being eaten but are doing much netter now I've covered them with fleece. Soon I'll be able to get them crawling up some wire netting

I've scattered broken egg shells and slug pellets around to stop the pesky molluscs. I've always made small cloches out of cut up pop bottles

The se charlottes are second earlies and were planted in April. They should be ready after 110-120 days so just a bit longer but look how big they are! I'm "earthing them up" so that the stalks are covered, otherwise the potatoes may come out green and are inedible.
